The traditional stick game of rural Bengal has been held at Domar in Nilphamari with the motto “Don’t tell drugs, leave drugs and go to the field”. The game was held at Dighaltari village of the upazila on Thursday, January 8 at 7 pm.
Domar Sadar Union 2nd Ward UP Member Nur Islam inaugurated the game as the chief guest under the overall supervision of Domar Sadar Union 8th Domar Sadar UP Chairman Md. Mosabber Hossain (Manu). Former chairman of Domar Sadar Union Hafizur Rahman Hafiz, leaders of various political parties and local leaders were also present.
It is to be mentioned that every year the UP member of the 2nd ward of Domar Sadar Union arranges social work as well as entertainment for the people of the area in various ways. In continuation of this, this year he has organized the traditional stick game of rural Bengal, which is lost in the evolution of time. Thousands of people gathered to watch the game.
Regarding the organization of stick games, the organizer Nur Islam told, “At present, the youth are drowning in drugs. This is my little initiative to bring the youth back from this drug menace. And the people in my area are very fond of entertainment. I have organized a stick game this year to entertain them. I sincerely thank all those who have contributed in this game in all possible ways including intelligence, money and hard work. ”
